Zone by temperature and use
The coldest shelf is best for raw proteins and dairy, while the door is the warmest spot and perfect for condiments. Designate one shelf for ready-to-eat snacks and another for leftovers so everyone knows where to look first.
Keep produce in the crisper drawers with humidity settings adjusted correctly: high humidity for leafy greens, low for fruits.
Contain with clear bins
Clear bins turn a deep shelf into pull-out drawers. Group like items — yogurts, cheeses, lunch supplies — so you can slide the whole container forward instead of digging in the back.
Add a small bin for items that need to be used soon. It cuts waste and keeps the rest of the fridge from feeling crowded.
Decant and label sparingly
Transfer dressings, juices or bulk staples into matching glass bottles only if you will finish them quickly. Labels help, but the real goal is being able to see what you have before you buy more.
A tidy fridge saves money, reduces food waste and makes cooking feel calmer from the first opened door.
