Look up before you look out
In a small home the walls are the storage. Floating shelves above a doorway, a tall narrow bookcase instead of a wide one, and hooks on the back of every cabinet door add square footage without taking any floor.
Keep the highest shelf for things you reach for seasonally, and the eye-level shelf for what you touch daily.
Make furniture work twice
A storage ottoman, a bed frame with drawers and a console with baskets underneath each do two jobs at once. In a studio, every piece should either hold something or fold away.
Choose closed storage for anything visually noisy — cables, cleaning supplies, paperwork — and open storage only for what you would happily photograph.
Claim the awkward corners
A tension rod under the sink, a slim rolling cart between the fridge and the wall, and a two-tier turntable in a corner cabinet recover space most people write off entirely.
Measure the gap first, then shop to the measurement. Small spaces punish guesswork more than any other room.
